Axel's take on Cabo Bello & Cabo del Sol: #7 of 8 in Los Cabos, 5.8/10
A coastal retreat near Cabo, not a neighborhood for wandering between everything. Good hotels and access with transport suit coastal stays, but fragmented enclaves, limited walkable options and modest value reduce its appeal.
Cabo Bello and Cabo del Sol are separate coastal enclaves, not one continuous walking district. Around Misiones del Cabo, Monumentos brings experienced surfers and views toward Land’s End. Cabo del Sol is more golf-and-resort oriented, with Ánima Village adding a substantial shopping and dining destination since its December 2025 opening.
Stay here when the coast, golf or a particular dining destination matters more than town life. Do not assume you can stroll between the enclaves, or that every nearby beach is suitable for swimming. A car or planned rides make this a much better base; travelers wanting several spontaneous outings each day should choose Médano or downtown.
- Best for: shopping, sports fans
- Skip it if: You want car-free exploring; You expect easy swimming at every beach
- Getting around: Ruta del Desierto serves Cabo del Sol and nearby highway stops, not every coastal entrance; use a car or taxis locally and a booked SJD transfer for a straightforward arrival.
- After dark: Expect destination dinners and resort lounges rather than a walk-between-clubs evening; arrange the journey back before heading into Cabo.
- Rates: Typical Axel rate $424 a night

What paying more buys
Sunrock supplies inexpensive two-bedroom units, while Sirena del Mar adds condo-style villas with laundry and a quieter clifftop setting. The Cape is one of the pricier picks for design-led rooms, ocean-view balconies, dining and a lively rooftop. Its premium is less compelling for self-catering families or anyone seeking consistently quiet evenings. Typical rates with Axel here run from $92 a night at Sunrock Hotel and Suites to $867 at The Cape, A Thompson Hotel, by Hyatt (last 30 days).
