Axel's take: 7.8/10

A friendly downtown budget base, provided you can live with small rooms and noise. a colorful, no-frills 2-star hotel in downtown Cabo San Lucas, scored for what it is.

Cabo Inn is a colorful, no-frills 2-star downtown hotel, not a beachfront resort. It's a good-value base for travelers who want local restaurants, the marina and Médano Beach within walking distance. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, while the leafy courtyard and shared kitchen give this simple property more personality than a standard budget hotel.

The compromises are small, sometimes tired rooms, street and neighboring-room noise, and uneven showers. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive, but not unanimous. Crucially, the hotel's website still lists the pool as awaiting reopening in 2026, despite some guests reporting it usable; confirm directly rather than counting on a swim. We'd choose it for an inexpensive, independent Cabo stay, but skip it if quiet nights, spacious bathrooms or dependable resort-style facilities matter most.

• Best for: solo travelers on a budget; couples exploring Cabo on foot; travelers who prefer local restaurants to resorts

• Watch out for: pool reopening remains unconfirmed; small rooms and uneven showers; street and neighboring-room noise

• Location: Downtown near restaurants and shops; marina and Médano Beach are walkable, not directly outside.

• Rooms: Simple and often compact; guests report tired fittings, limited bathroom privacy in some rooms and variable showers.

• Cleanliness: Mostly praised in recent reviews, with some contrary reports about bedding, bathrooms and upkeep.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the strongest recurring positive; reception has limited hours.

• Amenities: Shared kitchen, courtyard and free Wi-Fi; the official site still advertises the pool as awaiting reopening.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists pet fees and a deposit; arrange late arrivals and verify pool availability directly.
