Axel's take: 7.5/10
Historic character and welcoming staff, but the rooms don’t always meet Westin expectations. a historic 4-star downtown hotel with compact rooms, scored for what it is.
The Westin Great Southern Columbus is a historic 4-star downtown hotel that works best for travelers who value character over space. We'd consider it for a short city stay: Columbus Commons, theaters and German Village are within easy reach, and Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff and comfortable beds. Cleanliness is generally a strength, though room condition draws more mixed feedback. Bar Cicchetti and the fitness studio round out the essentials.
The trade-off is upstairs: many rooms and bathrooms are small, with recurring complaints about dated finishes, loud air-conditioning and hallway or street noise. Summer 2026 guests also reported one elevator out of service; check its status if elevator access matters. Parking costs extra. We'd skip it for a spacious family stay or a consistently polished, full-service Westin experience.
