Convention Center & Arena District
sports crowds · market lunches · convention traffic · brick streets
7.2/10
The easiest all-round base, especially for conventions and games.
It leads on access, nearby options and character, with solid hotels; weak value and event-night crowds are the trade-offs.

Stay here for the simplest Columbus introduction. High Street and Nationwide Boulevard put the convention center, North Market and Nationwide Arena close together, with the Short North just north. You can combine market lunches, restaurants and professional sports without organizing every outing around a drive.
The trade-off is an event-led atmosphere rather than a residential neighborhood: crowds swell around games and concerts. North Market remains open during adjoining construction, which its published schedule expects through late 2026; its former surface parking lot has closed. Choose elsewhere if quiet evenings matter more than convenience.

- Skip it if
- You want reliably quiet event nights; You prefer a residential neighborhood
- Getting around
- Walk to North Market, the arena and southern Short North; COTA 1 Kenny and 2 run on High Street. From CMH, take a taxi or Line 7 downtown followed by a walk or transfer; from LCK, arrange a taxi or rideshare.
- After dark
- Expect game and concert crowds around Nationwide Boulevard, followed by a noticeable lull when events finish.
