Hotels in ColumbusA budget, motel-style hotel with banquet halls near I-71
4.6/10
Convenient highway access cannot outweigh recurring cleanliness and maintenance problems.
Columbus Grand is a budget, motel-style hotel with banquet halls, not the comfortable mid-range stay its three-star listing might suggest. Free parking, easy I-71 access and rooms with microwaves and refrigerators are practical advantages. Some Tripadvisor and Expedia guests praise accommodating staff, but the overall verdict is weak: Expedia scores it 5.2/10 and Tripadvisor 2.6/5. We'd look elsewhere, even with basic expectations.
The problem isn't simply dated decor. Booking.com and Expedia guests in 2025–2026 describe dirty rooms or towels, malfunctioning televisions and plumbing problems; Booking.com also carries pest reports. These are failures of budget-hotel basics, not missing luxuries. Smoking rooms remain available, and Expedia lists no elevator. A refundable deposit is required. It may suit a very price-focused driver needing this location, but we'd skip it for families or anyone prioritizing dependable cleanliness.

Best for: very price-focused drivers; short stays requiring this specific location
Watch out for: recurring cleanliness and pest reports; unreliable room maintenance; smoking rooms and no elevator
Location: Near I-71 in north Columbus; practical with a car rather than a downtown sightseeing base.
Rooms: Microwaves and refrigerators are useful, but guests report dated interiors and broken fixtures.
Cleanliness: Repeated dirty-room and stained-towel complaints; pest reports warrant caution.
Service: Some guests praise helpful staff; others report slow check-in and unresolved problems.
Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi, plus a listed gym, laundry facilities and banquet halls.
Fees and surprises: Refundable inspection-based deposit; check-in age is 21; early or late checkout can incur fees.
