Axel's take: 8.6/10
A strong convention base with comfortable rooms, helpful staff and parking trade-offs. a full-service downtown convention hotel, scored for what it is.
Hyatt Regency Columbus is a large, full-service convention hotel, and we'd pick it for an event-focused downtown stay. Its direct connection to the Greater Columbus Convention Center is the biggest advantage, with Nationwide Arena and Short North dining within walking distance. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and friendly staff; Booking.com's strong cleanliness and location scores reinforce that picture. It's a practical choice rather than a luxury escape.
The main trade-offs are parking and extras. Self-parking involves a walk, valet costs more, and breakfast is generally an additional charge. Guests disagree about breakfast value, though service earns much steadier praise. Crucially, there is no swimming pool, despite some older listings. We'd skip it for a pool-centered family break or if included breakfast and effortless parking matter more than convention access.
