7.4/10
Good value and useful MRT connections make the strongest budget balance, though hotel quality trails Bugis.

Little India revolves around Serangoon Road, Tekka’s market life, temples, flower sellers and Indian cooking. Kampong Glam has a different rhythm: Sultan Mosque, textile shops on Arab Street, and boutiques and bars around Haji Lane. The Malay Heritage Centre reopened in April 2026, adding another substantial cultural stop. Pick the quarter where you want to spend your evenings.
- Best for
- travelers on a budgetmuseums and culturenightlife
- Skip it if
- You want consistently hushed evenings; You prefer polished surroundings to busy street life
- Getting around
- Little India has North East/Downtown trains, Jalan Besar the Downtown Line, and Bugis serves Kampong Glam on East–West/Downtown lines; explore each quarter on foot. SIN: change at Expo or Tanah Merah; XSP: taxi.
- After dark
- Haji Lane and Bali Lane draw late crowds; Little India remains busy with eating and shopping rather than a comparable concentration of clubs.
