Axel's take: 7.8/10
A friendly sightseeing base, provided you pack light and choose your room carefully. A compact, industrial-style 3-star boutique hotel in Jalan Besar, scored for what it is.
Hotel YAN is a compact, industrial-style 3-star boutique hotel in Jalan Besar, and a good pick for travelers who spend their days exploring. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and nearby cafés and eateries, with MRT stations within walking distance. Cleanliness is generally well rated, though recent feedback is not uniformly positive. The complimentary minibar is a welcome extra at this level.
The main compromise is space: the hotel lists its Premium Double at just 10 square meters, and guests across several sites describe difficulty opening luggage. Glass bathroom partitions also make privacy awkward when sharing. We'd choose a larger Deluxe room for two people and skip the smallest categories for long stays or bulky luggage. This works better as a practical sleeping base than somewhere to linger.
