Where to stay in Singapore for business: Marina Bay

Updated October 15, 2026 · Ranked by Axel from research, its own hotel reviews and recent rates · How we rank

Marina Bay & CBD takes first place for business trips, putting office districts and strong hotels at the center of the stay. Bugis & Bras Basah is the runner-up, close on score and better on value. For conventions, compare the actual venue entrance with your chosen address rather than relying on district names.

Stay here for waterfront walks, monumental architecture and evenings overlooking the bay. The Esplanade, Merlion and ArtScience Museum give the waterfront its visitor appeal, while Raffles Place and Shenton Way put business travelers among the offices. Marina Centre offers useful mall connections when heat or rain makes outdoor sightseeing less appealing.

Bugis and Bras Basah make a particularly balanced base: shopping around Bugis Junction, temples and everyday commerce on Waterloo Street, and museums and arts institutions toward Bras Basah Road. You can move between conventional malls, bookshops and cultural stops without spending the whole day in one kind of Singapore. Recent visitor discussions repeatedly favor Bugis for this balance.

Chinatown puts temples, shophouses and hawker meals into your daily routine rather than a single sightseeing excursion. Maxwell, Chinatown Complex and the streets around Telok Ayer make this an especially satisfying food base. North toward Clarke Quay, the emphasis changes to riverside dining and clubs; south toward Keong Saik and Neil Road, cocktail bars and LGBTQ venues shape the evenings.

Orchard is straightforward Singapore: a long shopping boulevard, substantial pavements and an almost continuous sequence of malls. It works particularly well when browsing, indoor breaks and predictable dining matter. Emerald Hill supplies a welcome change of scale, with conserved shophouses and bars just off the main retail strip. Tanglin feels more restrained than the busiest Orchard and Somerset junctions.

Little India revolves around Serangoon Road, Tekka’s market life, temples, flower sellers and Indian cooking. Kampong Glam has a different rhythm: Sultan Mosque, textile shops on Arab Street, and boutiques and bars around Haji Lane. The Malay Heritage Centre reopened in April 2026, adding another substantial cultural stop. Pick the quarter where you want to spend your evenings.

Stay here when meals and neighborhood wandering are the point. East Coast Road and Joo Chiat Road mix Peranakan shophouses, longstanding food businesses, cafés and small design shops; Koon Seng Road supplies the familiar pastel façades. The appeal is a more residential daily rhythm than the downtown sightseeing districts, with enough contemporary openings to reward repeat visits.

Sentosa makes sense when the island is the holiday: beaches, Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Oceanarium and time deliberately spent away from city streets. Siloso supplies beach bars and activities, while other island settings feel more secluded. For families planning repeated attraction visits, or couples wanting downtime, staying here removes the need to keep returning from town.
