Lakeview holds two of Chicago's best-known nightlife pockets: Wrigleyville, where the bars around Wrigley Field fill before and after every Cubs game, and Northalsted, the first officially designated gay village in the United States, along Halsted Street. Southport and Broadway add brunch spots and indie shops, and the lakefront parks are a short walk east.

- Getting around
- Red Line at Addison and Belmont, Brown Line at Belmont, Southport and Wellington; about 20 minutes to the Loop. No direct airport train: transfer to the Blue Line downtown or take a cab to O'Hare.
- After dark
- Loud and crowded around Clark and Addison on game nights and along Halsted on weekends; side streets toward the lake are calm.
