Axel's take: 6.7/10

A handy downtown base, but upkeep and breakfast need modest expectations. a simple, hacienda-style budget hotel near Fifth Avenue, scored for what it is.

Hacienda Paradise is a simple, hacienda-style budget hotel whose strongest asset is its location: Fifth Avenue’s restaurants and shops are nearby, and the beach is a short walk away. The garden courtyard and outdoor pool add appeal beyond a basic overnight stop. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests still praise helpful staff and clean, spacious rooms, making it worth considering if you’ll spend most days exploring rather than at the hotel.

The catch is consistency. Alongside those positives, recent reviews across both sites describe worn furnishings, uneven cleaning and maintenance, and unreliable room Wi-Fi. The included breakfast repeatedly disappoints guests expecting more than coffee and toast; fuller options can cost extra. We’d skip it for a hotel-centered holiday or dependable remote working, and book it primarily for location rather than amenities.

• Best for: budget-minded downtown explorers; travelers spending most days on tours

• Watch out for: uneven housekeeping and maintenance; very basic included breakfast; unreliable room Wi-Fi

• Location: Near Fifth Avenue, dining and shopping; walkable to the beach, but not beachfront.

• Rooms: Spacious rooms draw praise, but dated furniture and inconsistent bedding comfort recur in reviews.

• Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms; others describe dirty bathrooms, damp smells and poorly maintained pool areas.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff receive frequent praise, though complaint handling is less consistent.

• Amenities: Outdoor courtyard pool and breakfast restaurant; do not assume the catalog’s indoor pool, sauna or full spa.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a city tax payable at the property and paid nearby parking; confirm breakfast inclusions.
