Choose a Bernabéu-oriented address, but do not rely on Santiago Bernabéu station during the L10 closure through year-end 2026.

Choose Chamberí for residential Madrid, traditional taverns and the restaurant streets around Ponzano and Olavide. Castellana adds offices, broader avenues and access toward the Bernabéu. The distinction matters: a stay near Ponzano feels different from one beside an office block. This is especially rewarding on a second visit, when dinner plans matter as much as ticking off monuments.
- Best for
- food loversbusiness trips and conventionssports fans
- Skip it if
- You want mostly pedestrian sightseeing days; You expect every Castellana address to feel residential
- Getting around
- Ríos Rosas has L1, Alonso Cano L7 and Nuevos Ministerios L8/L10 plus Cercanías; walk Ponzano or the Bernabéu locally; MAD has direct L8 from Nuevos Ministerios.
- After dark
- Ponzano and Olavide attract evening diners and drinkers; the office-oriented stretches feel less sociable once work finishes.
