Chueca and Malasaña share walkable streets north of Gran Vía, but they are not interchangeable. Chueca brings Madrid’s clearest LGBTQ identity, cocktail bars and food around San Antón market. Malasaña leans toward vintage shops, music bars and the streets around Plaza del Dos de Mayo. Fuencarral stitches the two together with plenty of browsing between meals.

- Getting around
- Chueca has L5; Tribunal L1/L10 and Alonso Martínez L4/L5/L10; walk Gran Vía; from MAD, take L8 then L10 to Alonso Martínez.
- After dark
- The streets around Dos de Mayo and Chueca remain social late; expect bar spillover rather than predictable nighttime quiet.
