Herăstrău, officially King Michael I Park, gives northern Bucharest a very different pace: lakeside walks, running routes and the open-air Village Museum replace the historic center's dense streets. Around Bulevardul Mărăști and Piața Presei, Romexpo makes this a logical choice for exhibitions and events. Stay here when those destinations genuinely shape your trip.
- Best for
- business trips and conventionsfamiliesa quiet staysports fans
- Skip it if
- You have only a short sightseeing break; You need a metro station a few steps away
- Getting around
- Bus 100 at Piața Presei connects OTP and the BBU airport stop; tram 41 serves the Romexpo side; M2 Aviatorilor is useful at the park's southern end, not beside Romexpo.
- After dark
- Generally subdued away from lakeside dining and scheduled events; a Romexpo concert can make the exhibition streets feel quite different.
- Where to look
- Bulevardul Poligrafiei, Romexpo. Choose this exhibition-side stretch when Romexpo drives your trip; broad approaches and event access matter more than central sightseeing walks.Aurel Vlaicu metro. Look around the metro for northern business trips and city connections; this side favors practical access over historic-center atmosphere.Herăstrău Park, northern edge. Choose the park side for family outdoor time and a slower pace; better for green space than a sightseeing-heavy short break.
