#3 of 6 hotels in Piața Unirii by Axel's take. Piața Unirii is #5 of 7 places to stay in Bucharest. The best hotels in Piața Unirii, ranked · Where to stay in Bucharest

Axel's take: 7.9/10

Clean, comfortable rooms and rooftop views, but maintenance needs more consistency. a modern 4-star city hotel on Unirii Boulevard, scored for what it is.

Union Plaza is a modern 4-star on Unirii Boulevard: a good base if you want comfortable rooms and don't mind walking roughly 20 minutes to Old Town. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, helpful staff and breakfast with city views from the 12th-floor Amethyst Sky Bar. We'd choose it for a straightforward city break rather than a luxury stay.

The weak spot is consistency. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews describe awkward or ineffective air-conditioning and uneven maintenance; problem-solving also gets mixed reports. Private events can restrict rooftop access. An August 2026 guest reported the ground-floor restaurant closed for renovation; its current status is unconfirmed, so check before relying on it. We'd skip it if dependable cooling or doorstep access to Old Town matters most.

  • Best for: couples on city breaks; business travelers; travelers who enjoy rooftop views

  • Watch out for: Recurring air-conditioning complaints; Private events can restrict rooftop access; Check ground-floor restaurant renovation status

  • Location: On Unirii Boulevard, about 1.3 km from Old Town; the hotel puts the metro around 13 minutes away on foot.

  • Rooms: Often praised as spacious and comfortable, but cooling, fittings and maintenance draw recurring criticism.

  • Cleanliness: A clear strength overall, including strong Booking.com scores and repeated recent Expedia praise.

  • Service: Welcoming staff earn frequent praise; responses to maintenance problems are less dependable.

  • Amenities: Rooftop breakfast and Amethyst Sky Bar are highlights; Wi-Fi, meeting rooms and parking are available.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists parking, transfers and breakfast as potential extras; confirm inclusions and restaurant access.
