Axel's take: 8.7/10

Excellent apartment space and worthwhile spa facilities, provided you can compromise on location. A spacious 4-star aparthotel with a substantial spa, outside central Bucharest, scored for what it is.

Orhideea is a 4-star aparthotel whose strongest selling point is space, not a central address. We'd pick it for a family stay or longer visit: apartments offer room to spread out and kitchen facilities, while the pool, saunas and gym give it more substance than a basic apartment rental. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness and comfort; Tripadvisor reviews also highlight helpful reception staff and breakfast in the panoramic 11th-floor restaurant.

The compromise is the setting: a functional residential area rather than somewhere picturesque, with sightseeing generally requiring transport. Grozăvești metro and grocery shopping are nearby. Check the exact room package before booking—the official site sells apartments both with and without spa access. Breakfast can get crowded later in the morning. We'd skip it if walking straight into Old Town matters more than apartment space.

• Best for: Families wanting separate living space; Longer stays with kitchen facilities; Travelers who will use the spa

• Watch out for: Outside the main sightseeing area; Spa access depends on room package; Breakfast can crowd up after 9am

• Location: Residential Sector 6 setting near Grozăvești metro and grocery shopping; less convenient for Old Town sightseeing.

• Rooms: Apartment space and comfort are recurring strengths; check the layout and facilities of your specific category.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, backed by high cleanliness ratings on Booking.com and Expedia.

• Service: Generally praised as friendly and helpful, with particularly positive recent Tripadvisor feedback about reception.

• Amenities: Indoor adult and children's pools, extensive sauna facilities, gym and an 11th-floor restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Guest parking is included; spa inclusion varies by package, and Expedia lists a refundable deposit.
