Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong north-Bucharest base, with generous rooms and consistently praised staff. A practical, recently reclassified 4-star in Bucharest’s northern business district, scored for what it is.

Ibis Styles Bucharest Erbas is a practical hotel in the northern business district, now classified by Accor as four-star rather than three. We'd pick it for comfortable, generously sized rooms and dependable basics rather than luxury. Booking.com, Expedia and Accor guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, helpful staff and the breakfast buffet, which Accor says is included. Family rooms and apartments make it particularly useful for travelers needing extra space.

The main compromise is location: this is a better base for northern business hubs than for wandering the Old Town, although the metro and Promenada Mall are walkable. Some guests report noisy or temperamental air-conditioning, and pre-arrival email replies can be slow. Parking is paid and limited; airport transfers also cost extra. We'd skip it if central sightseeing on foot is the priority.

• Best for: Business travelers visiting northern Bucharest; Families wanting extra room; Travelers comfortable using the metro

• Watch out for: Outside the walkable historic center; Occasional air-conditioning noise or control issues; Limited paid parking

• Location: Convenient for northern business hubs, with Promenada Mall and the metro within walking distance.

• Rooms: Spacious rooms, family options and apartments; comfortable beds draw repeated praise.

• Cleanliness: Strong ratings across sites, reinforced by recent guests describing clean, fresh rooms.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength; email responses can be slow.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, restaurant, bar, free Wi-Fi and meeting facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, airport transfers and pets carry extra charges; confirm parking availability ahead.
