#6 of 9 hotels in Södermalm by Axel's take. Södermalm is #2 of 8 places to stay in Stockholm. The best hotels in Södermalm, ranked · Where to stay in Stockholm

Axel's take: 8.1/10

Good-value Stockholm cabins, provided you can live with tight quarters and boat noise. a budget hotel and hostel aboard three moored boats, scored for what it is.

Rygerfjord is a budget hotel and hostel aboard three moored boats on Södermalm’s waterfront, not a conventional hotel. It’s a strong pick for affordable sightseeing: Gamla Stan is walkable, the decks offer lovely city views, and a shared kitchen helps keep costs down. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff and generally clean cabins. For what it is, this is good value with genuine character.

The compromise is space and soundproofing. Recent guests repeatedly describe narrow beds, tiny bathrooms and audible neighbors or plumbing. Some cabins share bathrooms, and a waterfront address doesn’t guarantee a water view: choose the exact category carefully. Breakfast costs extra, and there’s no elevator. We’d skip it for a quiet retreat, substantial luggage or mobility needs; travel light and bring earplugs.

  • Best for: budget-minded city explorers; solo travelers packing light; travelers who enjoy boat accommodation

  • Watch out for: tiny cabins and narrow beds; neighbor and plumbing noise; shared bathrooms in some categories; no elevator

  • Location: Södermalm waterfront, within walking distance of Gamla Stan and metro connections.

  • Rooms: Compact cabins vary considerably; confirm bed layout, bathroom type and view before booking.

  • Cleanliness: Generally well reviewed, including recent praise for cabins and shared bathrooms.

  • Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring strength across booking and review sites.

  • Amenities: Shared kitchen, free Wi-Fi, restaurant, bars and outdoor decks; breakfast available.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking cost extra; towels and bed linen are included.
