Hotels in St. Louisan older mid-range hotel in downtown Clayton
8.0/10
A strong Clayton value, with standout breakfast and some rough edges.
Clayton Plaza is an older mid-range hotel that makes a strong case on comfort, location and breakfast rather than consistent polish. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, updated bathrooms and helpful staff; the complimentary omelet-and-waffle breakfast is the clearest standout. It's a good-value base for Clayton business or university visits, with restaurants and MetroLink within walking distance.
The trade-offs are tired corridors, a confusing layout and uneven housekeeping: several recent guests describe requesting cleaning or fetching towels themselves. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive, but lapses recur. The restaurant serves breakfast only, and summer 2026 guests reported the game room closed; confirm reopening before promising it to children. The hotel currently advertises its heated indoor/outdoor pool, supported by later guest reports. We'd skip it if daily servicing and uniformly fresh surroundings matter most.
Axel's opinion, from the hotel's website and recent guest reviews, scored for what the hotel is. Sources: Hotel website · Tripadvisor · Expedia · Booking.com · en.planetofhotels.com. Reviewed Oct 15, 2026.
