Hotels in St. Louisa modern, select-service 3-star in the Cortex innovation district
7.8/10
A useful Cortex base with clean rooms, sociable spaces and uneven soundproofing.
This modern 3-star, now marketed by Marriott as Aloft St. Louis Central West End, is a good pick for Cortex business trips and visits to the nearby medical campus. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms and helpful staff, and the indoor pool, gym and games-filled lobby give it more appeal than a basic overnight stop. Nearby Cortex MetroLink makes getting around easier without a car.
The compromises are practical rather than cosmetic. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests describe hearing neighbors and footsteps, while parking attracts recurring complaints about convenience and unclear arrangements. Service is usually praised, but reservation handling and problem-solving draw criticism across sites. Breakfast costs extra, and Marriott lists housekeeping every other day. We'd choose it for a short, location-led stay; light sleepers and travelers wanting seamless, full-service attention should look elsewhere.

Best for: Cortex business travelers; visitors to the medical campus; travelers using MetroLink
Watch out for: noise between rooms and floors; paid parking and confusing arrangements; uneven problem handling
Location: Convenient for Cortex, MetroLink and the medical campus; not a downtown sightseeing base.
Rooms: Modern, loft-style rooms; sound insulation and bathroom privacy can disappoint.
Cleanliness: A strong overall signal in recent Expedia reviews, despite some contrary reports elsewhere.
Service: Frequently friendly and helpful, but check-in and reservation problems recur across sites.
Amenities: Indoor pool, gym, lobby games and WXYZ bar; no outdoor pool confirmed.
Fees and surprises: Parking, breakfast and pets cost extra; confirm parking arrangements before arrival.
