Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong pick for roomy suites and rooftop swims, not four-star polish. A simple, mid-range aparthotel near Fifth Avenue, listed as four-star, scored for what it is.

Grand Fifty Suites is a simple, mid-range aparthotel rather than a full-service four-star hotel. We'd choose it for space, value and a walkable location near Fifth Avenue's quieter northern end, roughly five to seven minutes from the beach. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the spacious suites, cleanliness and helpful reception staff; the rooftop pool and sea views are the standout extras.

The kitchens make light self-catering practical, but guests repeatedly mention limited utensils, and Wi-Fi is a weaker point. Room layouts and balconies vary, so confirm your exact category. Guests have also reported construction across the street and nearby; whether that work remains active is unverified. We'd skip it for dependable remote working or polished resort service, but it's a strong base for independent beach days and eating out.

• Best for: Families wanting extra space; Independent beach travelers; Longer stays with light self-catering

• Watch out for: Uneven Wi-Fi; Sparsely equipped kitchens; Reported nearby construction; verify current status

• Location: Near Fifth Avenue's northern end; the public beach is a short walk, not directly outside.

• Rooms: Generously sized suites with kitchenettes; confirm the layout and whether a balcony is included.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength in aggregate ratings and recent Expedia feedback.

• Service: Recent feedback is predominantly warm about reception and housekeeping, despite some dissenting accounts.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool, gym and limited parking; reserve a parking space ahead.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a deposit and charges for early check-in or late checkout; the supplied official website could not be accessed.
