Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong-value Kamala base with helpful staff and a rooftop pool. a small, independent mid-range hotel near Kamala Beach, scored for what it is.

Kamala Resotel is a small, independent mid-range hotel, not a beachfront resort, and it's a strong pick for a straightforward beach holiday. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff and cleanliness, while recent Trip.com reviews reinforce the appeal of spacious rooms and the rooftop pool. The beach is about five minutes away on foot, with restaurants and shops nearby. We'd choose it for comfort and convenience rather than luxury.

The trade-offs are practical: street-facing rooms can pick up traffic noise, and some guests dislike the bathroom layout and limited clothes storage. Breakfast earns both praise and criticism, so expect a functional start rather than a highlight. An Expedia guest in January 2026 also reported too few pool loungers. We'd skip it if silence, generous bathroom privacy or direct beach access are priorities.

  • Best for: value-minded couples; independent beachgoers; solo travelers wanting nearby restaurants

  • Watch out for: traffic noise in street-facing rooms; awkward bathroom layouts in some rooms; limited rooftop pool loungers

  • Location: Around five minutes' walk to Kamala Beach; convenient for shops and restaurants.

  • Rooms: Often praised as spacious; some guests report limited storage and awkward bathroom layouts.

  • Cleanliness: A clear overall strength: Booking.com scores cleanliness 8.9, and recent Trip.com guests remain positive.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are a consistent strength across booking sites.

  • Amenities: Rooftop outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi and free parking; breakfast feedback is mixed.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists airport-transfer and credit-card surcharges; check breakfast inclusion and arrange arrivals after midnight.
