#9 of 9 hotels in Bangtao & Laguna by Axel's take. Bangtao & Laguna is #8 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Bangtao & Laguna, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 7.8/10

Warm service and beachfront space appeal, but renovations complicate the five-star promise. a sprawling five-star family resort on Bang Tao Beach, scored for what it is.

Angsana Laguna Phuket is a sprawling five-star beachfront resort whose strongest selling points are space, family activities and genuinely helpful staff. We'd shortlist it for a stay built around Bang Tao Beach and the lagoon rather than nightlife. Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the welcome, generous rooms and breakfast; overall ratings remain strong. A kids' club, water sports and complimentary Laguna transport add practical appeal.

The catch is inconsistent polish: some rooms show their age, and the grounds mean long walks. Roof and selected-room renovations are scheduled through October 31, 2026, with completion subject to change. Earlier main-pool closures caused substantial disappointment; October guests report swimming again, but confirm exactly what's operating before booking. We'd skip it for an assuredly quiet luxury escape until the works are finished.

  • Best for: families wanting beach and activities; travelers happy spending most days at the resort; groups needing larger accommodation

  • Watch out for: roof and selected-room renovations through October 31, 2026; confirm main-pool access before booking; long walks and some dated rooms

  • Location: Direct Bang Tao Beach access within Laguna; shuttles help, but this isn't a walk-out nightlife base.

  • Rooms: Generous accommodation, though guests still report dated interiors and maintenance needs in some rooms.

  • Cleanliness: Generally a strength across guest ratings, despite occasional housekeeping complaints.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff are the most consistent cross-site highlight.

  • Amenities: Kids' club, spa, gym and lagoon activities; recent pool disruption warrants checking current access.

  • Fees and surprises: An incidental deposit applies; breakfast, airport transfers and extra beds can cost extra.
