#1 of 9 hotels in Bangtao & Laguna by Axel's take. Bangtao & Laguna is #8 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Bangtao & Laguna, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 8.8/10

Private pools and standout hospitality make this a strong choice for slowing down. a five-star all-pool-villa resort in Laguna Phuket, scored for what it is.

Banyan Tree Phuket is a five-star all-pool-villa resort, and we'd choose it for privacy, generous space and warm hospitality rather than cutting-edge interiors. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the attentive staff, substantial breakfasts and well-kept grounds. Every villa has a private pool, while the spa, golf and kids' club make staying around the resort an appealing plan for couples and families alike.

The trade-off is scale: this is a sprawling lagoon estate, not a villa opening straight onto the sand, so expect walks, bicycles or buggy rides. Some guests report dated interiors and uneven maintenance; confirm your villa category rather than assuming everything looks newly refreshed. We'd skip it for nightlife or a compact beachfront stay. A September 2026 guest reported a Watercourt maintenance closure; check dining availability before committing to an inclusive package.

  • Best for: couples wanting pool-villa privacy; families settling into resort life; spa and golf holidays

  • Watch out for: dated interiors in some villas; large grounds and indirect beach access; confirm Watercourt availability and package inclusions

  • Location: Quiet Laguna setting near Bang Tao Beach; better for resort downtime than nightlife.

  • Rooms: Spacious private-pool villas; condition and styling vary between categories.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, with recent Expedia guests praising clean villas and maintained grounds.

  • Service: Warm, attentive staff are the most consistent strength across guest-review sites.

  • Amenities: Spa, communal pools, tennis, golf access, kids' club and RAVA Beach Club.

  • Fees and surprises: Agoda lists a nightly resort fee and a compulsory December 31, 2026 gala dinner charged separately.
