Axel's take: 8.1/10

Roomy comfort and excellent transport links, with some uneven service. a comfortable 4-star business hotel in Munich's Schwabing district, scored for what it is.

Pullman Munich is a comfortable 4-star business hotel in Schwabing, and a strong pick if you prefer space and easy transport over an Old Town address. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the roomy accommodation, comfortable beds and generous breakfast. Nordfriedhof U-Bahn and the nearby airport-bus stop make this a practical base, while the English Garden is within walking distance. The gym, saunas and courtyard add substance beyond the business-hotel basics.

The trade-off is consistency rather than a fundamental problem: most guests report clean rooms and helpful staff, but recent reviews across sites describe occasional housekeeping misses, uneven reception service and slow breakfast-table clearing. Breakfast and garage parking can also add to the bill. We'd choose it for business trips or a quieter city break; skip it if stepping straight into central Munich's sightseeing streets matters most.

• Best for: business travelers; city-break travelers comfortable using the U-Bahn; travelers using the airport express bus

• Watch out for: outside the walkable Old Town core; occasional housekeeping and service lapses; breakfast and parking may cost extra

• Location: Schwabing base near Nordfriedhof U-Bahn, the airport bus and English Garden.

• Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable, with balconies or loggias in many rooms.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, tempered by occasional recent housekeeping misses.

• Service: Usually helpful; reception follow-through and breakfast service can be uneven.

• Amenities: Gym, saunas, steam room, restaurant, bar and courtyard beer garden.

• Fees and surprises: Garage parking is charged; check whether breakfast is included in your booking.
