Hotels in MunichA simple 3-star business hotel in northern Schwabing
7.5/10
A practical Munich base with good transport links, but dated rooms and cooling concerns.
Star G is a simple 3-star business hotel in Parkstadt Schwabing: a good pick for a practical Munich stay rather than a characterful city break. Expedia and Booking.com guests generally praise clean rooms, helpful staff and convenient tram connections; Tripadvisor guests also appreciate the breakfast. Larger family rooms make it worth considering with children, although sightseeing means taking transport rather than stepping into the old town.
The trade-offs are basic, sometimes dated interiors and compact standard rooms. Several 2026 HolidayCheck guests report malfunctioning air conditioning, with uneven handling of room-change requests; a Booking.com guest describes a similar fault but a prompt alternative. Expedia also warns of construction at a neighboring building and possible noise. Breakfast and parking cost extra. We'd skip it for guaranteed summer cooling or a walk-everywhere sightseeing weekend.

Best for: business travelers in northern Munich; families choosing larger rooms; short stays with tram-based sightseeing
Watch out for: recent air-conditioning failures; neighboring construction warning; compact, dated standard rooms
Location: Northern Schwabing, near tram stops; not an old-town walking base.
Rooms: Standard rooms are 16 square meters; larger family rooms and apartments are available.
Cleanliness: Generally praised across major sites, despite some less positive reports.
Service: Usually friendly and helpful; recent cooling complaints show uneven problem handling.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, breakfast buffet, lobby bar, 24-hour reception and EV charging.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking are extra; Expedia flags neighboring construction and possible noise.
