Axel's take: 8.0/10

Strong on space, breakfast and rail connections, less convincing for seamless luxury. a full-service upscale hotel opposite Munich’s main station, scored for what it is.

Le Méridien München is a full-service upscale hotel opposite the main station: a strong pick for rail arrivals and sightseeing rather than a special-occasion splurge. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, comfortable beds and the generous breakfast. The indoor pool, sauna and courtyard give it more appeal than a straightforward business hotel, and recent feedback is broadly positive about staff and cleanliness.

The trade-off is consistency. Alongside that praise, Tripadvisor and Trip.com guests report housekeeping lapses, uneven check-in service and rooms that can be difficult to cool. Street-facing rooms attract noise complaints; we’d request a courtyard-facing room. Major Munich Hauptbahnhof construction is ongoing nearby, including work at the southern station exit. Choose it for convenience and facilities; skip it if you want a picturesque neighborhood or reliably polished luxury.

• Best for: rail travelers and day-trippers; city breaks with pool time; business travelers

• Watch out for: ongoing Hauptbahnhof construction nearby; street noise and room-temperature complaints; uneven housekeeping and check-in

• Location: Opposite Hauptbahnhof with excellent transport links; practical rather than picturesque, with major station works nearby.

• Rooms: Frequently praised for space and comfortable beds; some guests report dated details, street noise and temperature-control problems.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, but several recent Trip.com guests describe housekeeping and replenishment lapses.

• Service: Often warm and helpful, though check-in efficiency and complaint handling receive mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, sauna, gym, courtyard, Bavarian restaurant and bar; breakfast is a recurring highlight.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; check breakfast inclusion and Wi-Fi terms, and expect an incidental card authorization.
