Axel's take: 7.9/10

A practical downtown base with kitchenettes and friendly staff, but uneven room upkeep. A simple 3-star studio hotel in downtown Cabo San Lucas, scored for what it is.

Hotel Santa Fe is a simple 3-star studio hotel, not a beachfront resort. We'd pick it for an affordable, independent Cabo stay: kitchenettes make self-catering practical, there's a courtyard pool, and local restaurants and the marina are walkable. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff and cleanliness. It's good value if you'll spend more time exploring than in your room.

The compromise is polish. Recent reviews describe some tired rooms and worn bedding, while Hotels.com guests flag inconsistent hot water. There's no elevator, and Medano Beach takes a longer walk than the marina. We'd skip it if you need step-free access or reliably fresh interiors. Expedia also lists an annual September 8–12 pool closure; check your dates if swimming matters.

• Best for: Budget-conscious couples; Families who want a kitchenette; Independent travelers exploring downtown

• Watch out for: No elevator; Uneven room upkeep and hot-water reports; Not beachfront

• Location: Downtown, near local restaurants; roughly 10 minutes on foot to the marina, farther to Medano Beach.

• Rooms: Air-conditioned studios with kitchenettes; some recent guests describe dated interiors and worn bedding.

• Cleanliness: Generally well rated, with repeated recent praise despite occasional housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across recent guest reviews.

• Amenities: Courtyard pool, mini-market, restaurant, free Wi-Fi and free private parking.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a sanitation charge, cash deposits for under-22s and an annual September 8–12 pool closure.
