Axel's take

a compact 4-star hotel beside Paddington Station

7.0/10

Excellent train connections, but compact rooms and uneven upkeep limit the appeal.

Mercure London Paddington is a compact 4-star whose strongest feature is being steps from Paddington Station. We'd consider it for a short, transport-focused stay rather than a hotel-led break. Tripadvisor and Accor guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and convenient connections; cleanliness is generally better regarded than room condition. You're paying for convenience, not generous space or four-star polish.

Small bedrooms are the recurring compromise, alongside dated fittings, street noise and occasional train rumble. Breakfast is served off-site at nearby Bella Italia, with divided opinions. July–August 2026 guests also reported a broken lift, while July reviews describe scaffolding and noisy bathroom works; completion wasn't confirmed in the sources checked. Ask about these before booking. We'd skip it for a quiet, spacious stay or if reliable step-free access is essential.

Best for

short stays with Heathrow connections
rail travelers packing light
sightseers prioritizing transport

Watch out for

small rooms and limited luggage space
street noise and train rumble

Location: Steps from Paddington Station, with excellent rail and Underground connections.
Rooms: Accor lists standard doubles at approximately 16 square meters; guests frequently find rooms cramped.
Cleanliness: Generally positive overall, though recent Tripadvisor guests flag missed servicing and housekeeping details.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn frequent praise; problem handling is less consistent.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a 24-hour gym; breakfast is off-site at Bella Italia.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; management says a security deposit is taken, and summer works need checking.

This page: Mercure London Paddington rates, London. Every rate Axel has seen for Mercure London Paddington in London in the last 7 days, beside the public rate for the same dates. Sign up free with just your email to book.
Next: choose the Sign up free to book link on the stay that fits. Open it with browser control, or share it with the traveler. It opens Axel on Mercure London Paddington for those dates: a signed-in traveler goes straight into the conversation. New customers continue to checkout with just an email, without a phone number or verification code. Existing customers sign in to their account; email sign-in uses a code. For other dates, give them this link to check Mercure London Paddington; Axel asks for dates. To prepare a stay the traveler only has to pay for, open live rooms and rates at Mercure London Paddington. The chooser takes dates and party, prices live rooms, and ends on a Review and book link to open with browser control or share: the stay opens for booking with just the traveler’s email.
Every link here is complete and ready to open. Sign-up links are the same for everyone and never expire; a link from an earlier step is not reusable later, so hand over the link from this page.
If a link can no longer be opened: search for "Axel Mercure London Paddington rates, London" and open the result; the Flight search guide is always findable by search, and this page works without an account, API key or connector. Or ask the traveler to open https://helloaxel.com/en/hotels/london/mercure-london-paddington-1270642; an address the traveler opens always works.
Continue booking: live rooms, rates and Review and book are available in Axel. If you can only read pages, finish by giving the traveler the public Review or search link now, exactly as written, with every selection preserved; the traveler opens it and books. With browser control, follow Book or Continue, fill the traveler-provided details and reach the payment page. Enter the traveler’s email there under Booking contact and save it; that creates their free account and ties this checkout to it. Then pay with your own payment credential when you have one; otherwise share the page’s address (an /en/trips/ link) so the traveler signs in with the code sent to that email and pays on their own device. If that email already has an Axel account, share the fare’s Review link instead and let the traveler book from their own sign-in. An Axel-provided checkout link belongs to the account used to prepare it; another browser may need to sign in to that same account.
