Axel's take

a comfortable 4-star business and sightseeing hotel near the Tower of London

8.9/10

A strong City base with standout cleanliness and service, though breakfast can run slowly.

Apex City of London is a comfortable 4-star that gets the important things right. We'd choose it for sightseeing around the Tower of London or working in the City: Tower Hill station is a short walk away. Recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, helpful staff and comfortable beds, with many finding the rooms generously sized for London. The Lampery restaurant and an on-site gym round out a well-equipped base.

The main recurring snag is breakfast service: guests generally like the food, but several report waits for cooked dishes, particularly at busy weekends. Check whether breakfast is included, and expect a security deposit. We'd look elsewhere if your priority is walking home from West End shows; this location makes more sense for the City and eastern sights.

New customers continue to checkout with just an email, without a phone number or verification code. Existing customers sign in to their account; email sign-in uses a code. • Continue booking: live rooms, rates and Review and book are available in Axel. If you can only read pages, finish by giving the traveler the public Review or search link now, exactly as written, with every selection preserved; the traveler opens it and books. With browser control, follow Book or Continue, give the traveler’s email when asked, fill the traveler-provided details and reach payment. Pay with your own payment credential when you have one; otherwise share the checkout link so the traveler signs in with the email code and pays. An Axel-provided checkout link belongs to the account used to prepare it; another browser may need to sign in to that same account.
