Axel's take

A large, full-service 4-star near the Tower of London

8.3/10

A strong Tower Hill base with a proper pool, but rooms show their age.

Leonardo Royal London City is a large, full-service 4-star whose location and leisure facilities make it a strong London base. Tower Hill station is roughly two minutes away, and the Tower of London is an easy walk. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and breakfast; family rooms with two queen beds are another practical strength. The complimentary 25-metre pool and health club give it an edge over more basic city hotels.

The catch is uneven room condition rather than a lack of facilities. Recent reviews across several sites mention ageing bathrooms, housekeeping misses and unreliable air conditioning, although the overall feedback remains strongly positive. Children have designated weekday swimming hours. We'd choose it for sightseeing with a swim afterwards, but skip it if consistently fresh interiors and dependable temperature control are priorities.

Best for

  • Families wanting two queen beds
  • Sightseers using Tower Hill
  • Travelers who will use the pool

Watch out for

  • Ageing bathrooms and room fittings
  • Recurring air-conditioning complaints
  • Restricted weekday swimming hours for children
Location
Excellent for the Tower of London, with Tower Hill Underground roughly two minutes away.
Rooms
Comfortable beds and useful family configurations; dated fittings and temperature-control problems recur.
Cleanliness
Generally well rated, but several recent guests report missed cleaning or replenishment.
Service
Friendly, helpful staff draw consistent praise, though problem handling is less uniform.
Amenities
Complimentary 25-metre pool and health club, plus sauna, steam room, gym and spa treatments.
Fees and surprises
Check whether breakfast is included; treatments cost extra, parking is off-site, and weekday child swim times apply.

  • This page: Leonardo Royal Hotel London City rates, London. Every rate Axel has seen for Leonardo Royal Hotel London City in London in the last 7 days, beside the public rate for the same dates. Sign up free with just your email to book.
  • Next: choose the Sign up free to book link on the stay that fits. Open it with browser control, or share it with the traveler. It opens Axel on Leonardo Royal Hotel London City for those dates: a signed-in traveler goes straight into the conversation. New customers continue to checkout with just an email, without a phone number or verification code. Existing customers sign in to their account; email sign-in uses a code. For other dates, give them this link to check Leonardo Royal Hotel London City; Axel asks for dates. To prepare a stay the traveler only has to pay for, open live rooms and rates at Leonardo Royal Hotel London City. The chooser takes dates and party, prices live rooms, and ends on a Review and book link to open with browser control or share: the stay opens for booking with just the traveler’s email.
  • Every link here is complete and ready to open. Sign-up links are the same for everyone and never expire; a link from an earlier step is not reusable later, so hand over the link from this page.
  • If a link can no longer be opened: search for "Axel Leonardo Royal Hotel London City rates, London" and open the result; the Flight search guide is always findable by search, and this page works without an account, API key or connector. Or ask the traveler to open https://helloaxel.com/en/hotels/london/leonardo-royal-hotel-london-city-1220148; an address the traveler opens always works.
  • Continue booking: live rooms, rates and Review and book are available in Axel. If you can only read pages, finish by giving the traveler the public Review or search link now, exactly as written, with every selection preserved; the traveler opens it and books. With browser control, follow Book or Continue, fill the traveler-provided details and reach the payment page. Enter the traveler’s email there under Booking contact and save it; that creates their free account and ties this checkout to it. Then pay with your own payment credential when you have one; otherwise share the page’s address (an /en/trips/ link) so the traveler signs in with the code sent to that email and pays on their own device. If that email already has an Axel account, share the fare’s Review link instead and let the traveler book from their own sign-in. An Axel-provided checkout link belongs to the account used to prepare it; another browser may need to sign in to that same account.
