Axel's take: 7.5/10

A practical downtown base, provided nightlife matters more than quiet. a simple, older Art Deco hotel beside Duval Street, scored for what it is.

Pegasus is a simple, older Art Deco hotel beside Duval Street, and we'd pick it for exploring Old Town rather than spending days in the room. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the walkable location, clean rooms and comfortable beds. The rooftop pool, hot tub and included continental breakfast add useful extras for this class, though breakfast is basic rather than a reason to book.

The central address comes with late-night bar noise, especially in street-facing rooms; request a room toward the back. Some rooms and bathrooms are cramped, and maintenance and staff responsiveness draw mixed reports. Arrange late arrival ahead because reception has limited hours. Booking.com lists a resort fee covering parking, while the official site describes parking as extra, so confirm your booking's inclusions. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat or polished, full-service comfort.

• Best for: nightlife-focused couples; short Old Town stays; travelers exploring on foot

• Watch out for: late-night noise in street-facing rooms; compact rooms and bathrooms; confirm fees and late-arrival arrangements

• Location: At Southard and Duval, convenient for Old Town sights and bars; not beachfront.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable but variable in size and condition; rear-facing rooms are the better quiet-room request.

• Cleanliness: Recent guests commonly praise clean rooms, although maintenance feedback is less consistent.

• Service: Many guests praise friendly staff, but availability and problem handling receive mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool, hot tub, elevator and basic continental breakfast are useful extras for a simple hotel.

• Fees and surprises: Parking descriptions conflict across sources; Booking.com lists a resort fee, and deposit terms also warrant checking.
