#7 of 9 hotels in New Town & North Roosevelt by Axel's take. New Town & North Roosevelt is #5 of 6 places to stay in Key West. The best hotels in New Town & North Roosevelt, ranked · Where to stay in Key West

Axel's take: 7.9/10

A good self-catering base for quieter Key West stays, not downtown convenience. A laid-back 3-star condo and timeshare resort with a marina, scored for what it is.

Coconut Mallory is a laid-back 3-star condo and timeshare resort, rather than a full-service hotel. We'd pick it for a longer, self-catering stay: kitchens or kitchenettes, two pools, a hot tub and a marina give it more staying power than a standard room. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, roomy apartments and relaxed atmosphere; Booking.com guests also highlight the waterfront setting.

The compromises are dated interiors in some units, occasional cleaning complaints and a location that makes downtown outings a bike ride or drive rather than an easy stroll. Expedia lists no housekeeping during your stay, so expect apartment-style independence rather than daily hotel service. We'd skip it for polished rooms, walk-out nightlife or a beach-resort experience.

  • Best for: Families wanting self-catering space; Longer stays away from downtown bustle; Travelers drawn to a marina setting

  • Watch out for: Dated interiors in some units; No daily housekeeping; Transport needed for downtown outings

  • Location: At Key West's eastern entrance, convenient for the airport but removed from Old Town; not beachfront.

  • Rooms: Studios and one- or two-bedroom condos offer cooking facilities; space earns praise, but condition varies.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive cleanliness ratings, with some recent complaints about grime and worn carpets.

  • Service: Recent reviews frequently praise friendly, helpful staff; reception is not staffed around the clock.

  • Amenities: Two outdoor pools, a hot tub, grills, picnic areas and a marina with limited guest boat slips.

  • Fees and surprises: A refundable damage deposit is required; arrange late arrivals ahead. Expedia lists free parking, limited to one space per unit.
