Axel's take: 8.3/10

A stylish Old Town base, strongest on location and hospitality rather than space. a renovated historic 4-star on Duval Street, scored for what it is.

La Concha is a historic 4-star right on Duval Street, now part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection—not Crowne Plaza. Its extensive renovation was completed in late 2024, and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the refreshed interiors, cleanliness and welcoming staff. We’d pick it for an Old Town stay built around walking, restaurants and nightlife: the location does much of the work, with an outdoor pool, lively cocktail bar and complimentary bikes adding appeal.

The trade-off is space and quiet, not a lack of character. Guests across sites mention compact rooms and limited poolside space, while Duval-facing rooms can pick up nightlife noise. Parking costs extra, and guests report a destination fee whose inclusions are worth checking before booking. It’s a strong central base; we’d skip it for a beach-focused holiday, sprawling resort facilities or reliably quiet nights.

• Best for: couples exploring Old Town; nightlife-focused weekends; travelers who prefer walking to driving

• Watch out for: noise in Duval-facing rooms; compact rooms and limited pool space; destination fee and paid parking

• Location: Central Duval Street setting, walkable to Old Town sights; not beachfront.

• Rooms: Renovated interiors and comfortable beds earn praise, but some rooms feel cramped.

• Cleanliness: Strong recent feedback overall, with occasional housekeeping timing or replenishment lapses.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are a recurring strength, despite some inconsistent follow-through.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, poolside bar, gym, dining and complimentary bikes; pool space is limited.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is charged separately; guests report a destination fee, so confirm current inclusions.
