#8 of 9 hotels in Swatara by Axel's take. Swatara is #4 of 8 places to stay in Harrisburg. The best hotels in Swatara, ranked · Where to stay in Harrisburg

Axel's take: 6.8/10

Comfortable renovated rooms and a family-friendly pool, but construction compromises the stay. a full-service, mid-range suburban conference hotel, scored for what it is.

This full-service, mid-range conference hotel is a workable base for drivers visiting Harrisburg and Hershey, rather than a destination in itself. The connected indoor/outdoor pool is its standout feature, and recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests praise helpful staff and comfortable beds. Renovated rooms earn good reports, while free parking makes an overnight stop straightforward.

The catch is a drawn-out renovation: 2026 guests still describe construction, awkward hallway detours and makeshift dining arrangements. Marriott has also flagged work affecting the lobby, restaurant and fitness center; confirm their current status before booking. Cleanliness and maintenance feedback is uneven, particularly around older spaces and the pool. We'd consider it for a practical stay with a confirmed renovated room, but skip it for a polished, hassle-free family vacation.

Best for: Harrisburg and Hershey visitors with a car; Overnight highway stops
Watch out for: Prolonged renovations and temporary facilities; Uneven room and common-area condition; Hershey attractions require a drive
Location: Convenient highway access; Marriott places Hershey attractions roughly ten miles away.
Rooms: Renovated rooms receive praise for comfortable beds; older rooms attract maintenance complaints.
Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but recurring room and pool-area complaints weaken consistency.
Service: Helpful staff are a recurring positive, though problem handling receives mixed feedback.
Amenities: Connected indoor/outdoor pool; confirm restaurant and fitness-center arrangements during renovations.
Fees and surprises: Parking is free; breakfast and pets cost extra, and Marriott's airport-shuttle information conflicts.
