#6 of 7 hotels in New Cumberland by Axel's take. New Cumberland is #6 of 8 places to stay in Harrisburg. The best hotels in New Cumberland, ranked · Where to stay in Harrisburg

Axel's take: 5.5/10

Convenient for a cheap stopover, but cleanliness and upkeep are too inconsistent. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel in New Cumberland, scored for what it is.

This is a no-frills 2-star roadside motel, best considered for a short stop rather than a Hershey vacation. Free parking, free Wi-Fi and pet-friendly rooms cover the basics. Recent Expedia guests include travelers praising clean rooms and friendly staff, but the broader picture on Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor falls below what we'd want even from a budget motel.

The problem isn't the simple decor: recurring reports describe dirty floors or bedding, worn beds and maintenance problems, with some guests also reporting pests. The outdoor pool has repeatedly been reported closed, including in 2026; don't book expecting a swim. Refrigerators and microwaves are room-type dependent. It may suit budget-conscious drivers willing to accept uneven standards, but we'd skip it for a family holiday or anyone prioritizing reliable cleanliness.

Best for: budget-conscious overnight drivers; travelers with pets
Watch out for: inconsistent cleaning and room maintenance; outdoor pool reported closed; fridge and microwave not in every room
Location: Convenient to I-83 and I-76; a driving base rather than a central Harrisburg or Hershey stay.
Rooms: Basic and worn; guests report uneven bed comfort and maintenance, with appliances limited to selected categories.
Cleanliness: Some recent guests report clean rooms, but dirty bedding, floors and pest complaints recur across sources.
Service: Friendly staff are a relative strength, though complaint handling receives mixed feedback.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, parking and coin laundry; the outdoor pool is repeatedly reported closed.
Fees and surprises: Parking is free; confirm the exact room's appliances and don't rely on older pool listings.
