#9 of 9 hotels in Swatara by Axel's take. Swatara is #4 of 8 places to stay in Harrisburg. The best hotels in Swatara, ranked · Where to stay in Harrisburg

Axel's take: 6.7/10

Convenient for a quick stop, but housekeeping and upkeep are too inconsistent. A no-frills 3-star roadside hotel near Harrisburg airport, scored for what it is.

This budget-oriented 3-star off I-283 is a practical overnight stop rather than a destination hotel. Free parking, breakfast and Wi-Fi keep the basics affordable, and rooms include microwaves and mini-fridges. Recent Expedia guests often praise helpful staff, comfortable rooms and easy access to restaurants; several September and October 2026 stays were positive. We'd consider it for a short, no-frills visit with a car.

The catch is consistency. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly describe worn carpets, musty smells and uneven bathroom cleaning, with cockroach reports appearing on both sites. That is more concerning than dated decor, even though many other guests report clean rooms. Breakfast also draws complaints about cold food and slow replenishment. We'd skip it for a longer family holiday, or if dependable cleanliness matters more than keeping costs down.

Best for: Budget-conscious overnight drivers; Short airport-area stays; Travelers with pets
Watch out for: Uneven housekeeping and recurring pest reports; Worn carpets and musty smells; Inconsistent breakfast replenishment
Location: Convenient off I-283 for the airport and regional drives; not a downtown or walk-to-Hershey base.
Rooms: Microwaves and mini-fridges are useful, but condition varies and dated finishes remain a recurring complaint.
Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms, but repeated bathroom, carpet and pest complaints undermine reliability.
Service: Recent Expedia guests frequently praise friendly staff; Tripadvisor accounts of problem handling are less consistent.
Amenities: Free breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking, plus a gym, business center and laundry facilities.
Fees and surprises: Pets incur a surcharge; early check-in and late checkout may also cost extra.
