#1 of 7 hotels in New Cumberland by Axel's take. New Cumberland is #6 of 8 places to stay in Harrisburg. The best hotels in New Cumberland, ranked · Where to stay in Harrisburg

Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical highway stop with friendly staff, good breakfast and some uneven upkeep. a straightforward 2-star highway hotel south of Harrisburg, scored for what it is.

This straightforward 2-star hotel off I-83 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike is a good pick for a road-trip stop or a Harrisburg visit with a car. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise friendly staff, comfortable beds and a filling included breakfast. Rooms and suites draw compliments for their space, while free parking, in-room fridges and microwaves make the basics convenient. We'd choose it for an uncomplicated short stay rather than a destination hotel.

The main compromise is uneven upkeep: some guests describe aging rooms and malfunctioning TVs or ice machines, although recent feedback is mostly positive about cleanliness and comfort. IHG advertises a heated indoor pool, but a recent guest found it too cold for swimming. Skip it if you want polished interiors or a walkable downtown base.

Best for: road-trippers breaking up a drive; families traveling with a car; short Harrisburg-area visits
Watch out for: some aging rooms and maintenance issues; pool temperature may disappoint; not a downtown walking base
Location: Convenient to I-83 and I-76 in New Cumberland; better suited to drivers than downtown sightseeing on foot.
Rooms: Guests often praise spacious layouts and comfortable beds; some report dated furnishings or faulty equipment.
Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback across sites, with occasional housekeeping and odor complaints.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, though problem handling is not uniformly praised.
Amenities: Included breakfast, indoor pool, fitness center, Wi-Fi and guest laundry; rooms have fridges and microwaves.
Fees and surprises: Self-parking is free; pets incur a nightly charge, and Booking.com lists a refundable damage deposit.
