#2 of 7 hotels in New Cumberland by Axel's take. New Cumberland is #6 of 8 places to stay in Harrisburg. The best hotels in New Cumberland, ranked · Where to stay in Harrisburg

Axel's take: 7.6/10

Good budget-stop value, provided you can overlook the worn exterior and uneven rooms. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel near I-83, scored for what it is.

Highland Inn is a no-frills 2-star roadside motel in New Cumberland, best treated as an inexpensive overnight stop rather than a destination. We'd consider it for a road trip: Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, while reviews across sites often describe clean rooms and good value. Free parking, Wi-Fi, microwaves and refrigerators cover the practical basics.

The catch is inconsistent condition. Some guests describe refreshed interiors; others report tired bathrooms, hard mattresses or missed cleaning. The worn exterior and grounds attract recurring criticism, and highway noise can reach rooms despite many guests finding their stay quiet. We'd skip it if you need polished surroundings or reliably quiet sleep. Late arrivals should also plan carefully: Expedia lists an 11 p.m. check-in cutoff with no after-hours check-in.

Best for: budget-minded road trippers; short stays with a car; travelers prioritizing practical basics
Watch out for: uneven room condition and cleaning; highway noise in some rooms; no check-in after 11 p.m.
Location: Convenient to I-83 and driving into Harrisburg; the steep approach gets guest criticism.
Rooms: Microwaves and refrigerators are useful; updates and mattress comfort vary by room.
Cleanliness: Mostly positive feedback, but recent cleaning misses prevent a wholehearted endorsement.
Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are the most consistent strength.
Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi, guest laundry and picnic facilities; no elevator.
Fees and surprises: Early check-in and late checkout carry fees; an incidental deposit may be required.
