#2 of 3 hotels in Downtown Harrisburg by Axel's take. Downtown Harrisburg is #1 of 8 places to stay in Harrisburg. The best hotels in Downtown Harrisburg, ranked · Where to stay in Harrisburg

Axel's take: 7.1/10

A convenient downtown base, but the aging rooms need more consistency. an older, full-service mid-range hotel in downtown Harrisburg, scored for what it is.

This older, full-service mid-range hotel makes most sense for a short downtown Harrisburg stay. Restaurant Row, the riverfront and the train station are within walking distance, and reviews repeatedly praise comfortable beds and helpful staff, particularly the valet team. The indoor pool, gym and restaurant give it useful extras beyond a basic overnight stop. We'd pick it for convenience rather than contemporary rooms.

The recurring compromise is condition: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests describe dated furnishings, small bathrooms, musty smells and noisy air-conditioning. Many recent guests still report clean, comfortable stays, so this isn't a uniformly poor property, but housekeeping and maintenance aren't consistently reassuring. On-site parking is paid valet, breakfast inclusion depends on your booking, and IHG lists limited housekeeping. We'd skip it if fresh interiors or reliably quiet sleep matter most.

  • Best for: short downtown business stays; travelers arriving by train; visitors prioritizing walkable dining

  • Watch out for: dated rooms and small bathrooms; recurring musty smells and noisy air-conditioning; paid valet parking and limited housekeeping

  • Location: Walkable downtown setting near dining, the riverfront and Amtrak; Hersheypark requires a drive.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but dated interiors, compact bathrooms and loud air-conditioning recur.

  • Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms, alongside repeated complaints about odors and cleaning lapses.

  • Service: Staff and valet attendants are frequent strengths, though complaint handling receives mixed feedback.

  • Amenities: Indoor pool, fitness center, restaurant and free Wi-Fi; breakfast is not included with every booking.

  • Fees and surprises: On-site parking is paid valet with a low garage clearance; IHG advertises limited housekeeping.
