Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong airport-area choice, with standout staff and more character than a routine stopover. A renovated, full-service 4-star near the airport and Gulf Coast Town Center, scored for what it is.

This full-service 4-star is a strong pick for airport stopovers, business trips and FGCU visits. The former Holiday Inn completed its renovation and Crowne Plaza conversion in 2024. Recent Tripadvisor and Travelocity guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds—an unusually consistent picture for a practical airport-area hotel. The lakeside pool, fire pits and restaurant make it appealing for more than just sleeping between flights.

The main compromise is location: this is a shopping-and-airport base, not a beach resort, and beach days require a substantial drive. Breakfast is not automatically included; Booking.com also lists a capped restaurant credit for breakfast-inclusive bookings, so check the terms. We'd choose it for convenience and dependable comfort, but skip it if walking straight onto the sand is the priority.

• Best for: Airport stopovers; Business travelers; FGCU visits and sports weekends

• Watch out for: Beaches require a drive; Breakfast inclusion and credits vary by booking; Local shuttle subject to availability

• Location: Convenient for RSW, FGCU and Gulf Coast Town Center; not beachfront.

• Rooms: Renovated rooms draw praise for comfortable beds, generous space and good upkeep.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest comments and major-site category ratings.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are the clearest recurring highlight across sources.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, hot tub, lakeside fire pits, restaurant, 24-hour gym and complimentary airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Guest parking is complimentary; breakfast may cost extra, and breakfast-inclusive bookings can carry a credit limit.
