Mayfair and St James's put Bond Street, the Royal Academy and royal parks into an easy daily routine. Jermyn Street feels traditional; Shepherd Market supplies a smaller-scale pocket of pubs and restaurants. Stay here if you want central London without sleeping directly among Soho's busiest evening streets.

The atmosphere can feel formal rather than spontaneous, and ordinary meals take more deliberate hunting than in Soho or Fitzrovia. Piccadilly and Park Lane also bring substantial traffic: an elegant address does not automatically mean a quiet room. Skip it if independent cafés, casual bars and everyday neighborhood life are your main priorities.
