Axel's take on Usaquen: #8 of 9 in Bogota, 5.8/10
Village-like evenings and weekend markets, with a long commute to historic Bogotá. Good hotels, old-town character and reasonable value suit slower stays, but the weakest sightseeing connections among the northern choices hold it back.
Usaquén preserves the shape of an old town around its church and founding square, with cobbled streets, courtyard restaurants and cafés around Calles 118–120. The Sunday market adds browsing and crowds to an otherwise slower neighborhood rhythm. Stay here when leisurely meals, characterful streets and time together matter more than covering a sightseeing checklist.
Its northern position is the decisive drawback: repeated trips to La Candelaria turn convenience into commuting. Nor should you assume the former direct airport-bus connection still reaches the square; the M86 route was shortened in July 2026. Families and returning visitors can settle in happily, while a short first visit focused on downtown is better based farther south.
- Best for: families, couples, a quiet stay, shopping
- Skip it if: You have only a short museum-focused visit; You dislike relying on road transport
- Getting around: Walk the old town and use SITP buses on Carrera Séptima; no trunk station sits beside the square. From BOG, take a taxi or M86 plus an onward connection: since July 2, 2026, M86 turns back at Calle 107A.
- After dark: Restaurants take over from daytime browsing; the square is sociable rather than club-focused, with quieter streets beyond the dining blocks.
- Rates: Typical Axel rate $72 a night · usually 7% under the public rate

How to choose
- Choose Biohotel Organic Suites Bogotá if you value spacious rooms, warm service and breakfast, and can sleep comfortably without air-conditioning.
- Choose NH Collection Bogotá Teleport Royal if you want generous rooms and a heated indoor pool, subject to confirmed wellness access.
- Choose NH Collection Bogotá Hacienda Royal if quieter rooms and walkable Usaquén evenings matter more than contemporary decoration.
What paying more buys
Hotel bh Usaquen is cheaper than most here and puts dining within walking reach, but cooling and avenue noise need checking. NH Collection Teleport Royal adds generous rooms and an advertised indoor pool; much pricier W Bogota emphasizes bold design, personal attention and spa facilities. W's premium is hard to justify if you mainly want market visits and restaurant evenings. Typical rates with Axel here run from $32 a night at Santa Barbara Real Hotel to $320 at W Bogota (last 30 days).
