Axel's take: 7.0/10

Friendly staff make this budget stop workable, but location and noise limit its appeal. a no-frills 2-star in Bogotá’s Fontibón district, scored for what it is.

Ayenda 1069 Alfay, also listed as Hotel Alfay, is a no-frills 2-star in Fontibón, better suited to a short practical stop than a Bogotá sightseeing trip. We'd consider it for budget stays with business nearby: Booking.com and Expedia put staff among its stronger points, and cleanliness generally earns respectable marks. Expect straightforward rooms with private bathrooms, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception rather than much in the way of extras.

The compromises matter. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests describe noise, disappointing showers and surroundings they found unappealing; central attractions are well away. Those reports don't outweigh the broader positive feedback, but they make this a qualified recommendation. There is no elevator, and airport transfers cost extra. We'd skip it for light sleepers, travelers needing step-free access or anyone wanting an inviting neighborhood for evening walks.

• Best for: budget travelers with business in Fontibón; short stays with modest expectations

• Watch out for: noise and shower complaints; unappealing surroundings reported by guests; stairs only; no elevator

• Location: Fontibón location suits nearby errands better than central sightseeing; some recent guests dislike the surroundings.

• Rooms: Basic rooms with private bathrooms and TVs; recent reports flag noise and disappointing showers.

• Cleanliness: Generally a relative strength, though guest feedback is not uniformly positive.

• Service: Helpful reception staff are a recurring positive; reception operates around the clock.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi and basic guest services; no elevator or on-site parking according to Expedia.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers require advance coordination and carry an extra charge.
