Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong downtown base, with clean rooms but parking costs and occasional street noise. a modern 3-star downtown hotel with spacious rooms and included breakfast, scored for what it is.

This modern 3-star Hyatt Place is a strong pick for travelers who want downtown restaurants within walking distance without paying for luxury extras. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Included breakfast adds value, while an indoor pool, hot tub and gym make it practical for families as well as business trips.

The main compromise is arriving with a car: on-site parking is paid valet, while self-parking means using off-property facilities. Reception is on the second floor, which several guests find confusing on arrival. Some also report nighttime traffic and revving engines, although others describe quiet stays. We'd choose it for downtown convenience and dependable comfort; light sleepers and anyone expecting easy, free parking should look elsewhere.

• Best for: downtown dining and weekend breaks; business travelers; families wanting extra room

• Watch out for: paid valet or off-property self-parking; occasional nighttime street noise; second-floor reception

• Location: Walkable to downtown restaurants and shops; regional outdoor attractions require a drive.

• Rooms: Modern, generously sized rooms with seating areas; sofa-bed options suit families.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent reviews, despite isolated housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Usually friendly and helpful, with occasional reports of check-in delays and uneven follow-through.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, indoor pool, hot tub, 24-hour gym and casual lobby-bar dining.

• Fees and surprises: On-site valet costs extra; designated off-property self-parking has no in/out privileges. Service animals only.
