Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong road-trip base with friendly staff, clean rooms and useful included extras. a practical 3-star Best Western off I-25, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Best Western in northern Colorado Springs is a strong pick for travelers exploring by car. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, welcoming staff and comfortable rooms, and the overall ratings back that up. Included hot breakfast, free parking and an indoor pool with a hot tub make it particularly practical for families. Some room categories offer Pikes Peak views.

The trade-offs are mostly typical of a roadside hotel: some rooms and bathrooms feel compact, and several guests mention audible neighbors or loud air-conditioning units. Breakfast earns plenty of praise, though variety and seating disappoint some visitors. We'd choose it for straightforward comfort and good value, but skip it if you want a walkable downtown setting or are especially sensitive to noise.

• Best for: families exploring by car; Air Force Academy visitors; value-minded road-trippers

• Watch out for: neighbor noise and loud air-conditioning in some rooms; compact bathrooms in some room types; breakfast seating can fill up

• Location: Easy I-25 access and nearby restaurants; better for driving than a downtown walking holiday.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable, with mountain-view options; size, mattress condition and noise vary.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent reviews, despite occasional exceptions.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk and breakfast staff attract repeated praise.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, indoor pool, hot tub, fitness room and free Wi-Fi.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; dogs require an eligible room and an extra fee, and early check-in can cost extra.
