Axel's take: 8.3/10

Come for the mountain views and activities, not flawless rooms or quiet floors. a sprawling 4-star golf and family resort beneath Cheyenne Mountain, scored for what it is.

Cheyenne Mountain is a sprawling 4-star resort whose mountain setting and recreation are stronger draws than its rooms. Now part of Destination by Hyatt, it’s a strong pick for families who will use the pools, lake, golf and racquet courts. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the views and friendly staff; overall cleanliness ratings are reassuring, too. We'd choose it for an active resort break rather than a polished luxury escape.

The compromises are aging interiors, recurring reports of noise from upstairs rooms, and occasional housekeeping misses. Resort fees and paid parking also weaken the value if you're mostly out sightseeing. For fall and winter stays, check access carefully: Expedia lists the beach and one pool as seasonally closed, while Hyatt confirms a heated resort pool operates year-round. We'd skip it if silence and freshly updated rooms are priorities.

  • Best for: families who want plenty of activities; golf and racquet-sports travelers; mountain-view resort breaks

  • Watch out for: dated interiors and upstairs footstep noise; resort fees plus paid parking; seasonal beach and pool restrictions

  • Location: Scenic southwest Colorado Springs setting; better for a resort stay than exploring on foot.

  • Rooms: Private balconies or patios are a plus; guests still report tired finishes and creaky floors.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, with occasional recent complaints about rushed or incomplete housekeeping.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn consistent praise across Expedia and Tripadvisor.

  • Amenities: Golf, tennis, pickleball, spa, gym and multiple pools; confirm seasonal lake and beach access.

  • Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee and paid parking; Expedia also lists a destination surcharge and incidental deposit.
