#1 of 2 hotels in Old Colorado City by Axel's take. Old Colorado City is #2 of 7 places to stay in Colorado Springs. The best hotels in Old Colorado City, ranked · Where to stay in Colorado Springs

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A friendly, activity-filled motor lodge that delivers more character than polish. a bicycle-themed 2-star motor lodge near Garden of the Gods, scored for what it is.

Buffalo Lodge is a bicycle-themed 2-star motor lodge, not a conventional resort, and it's a strong pick for an outdoors-focused stay. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, comfortable beds and location near Garden of the Gods. Booking.com guests echo the enthusiasm for its cycling setup. Complimentary loaner bikes, live music, a seasonal heated pool and a simple waffle breakfast give this modest property more personality than a standard budget motel.

The trade-off is older, unevenly updated accommodation: expect functional rooms and some dated bathrooms rather than hotel-chain polish. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive, though not unanimous. Expedia and Hotels.com also warn of neighboring construction; confirm its current impact and the pool's seasonal closing date before booking. We'd skip it if pristine finishes and a reliably quiet, retreat-like atmosphere matter more than sociability.

  • Best for: cyclists and hikers; families exploring local attractions; travelers who enjoy live music

  • Watch out for: older bathrooms and uneven room finishes; neighboring construction warning; seasonal pool; confirm opening dates

  • Location: Convenient for Garden of the Gods, nearby trails and Manitou Springs; free on-site parking.

  • Rooms: Simple, individually styled rooms with AC, mini-fridges, microwaves and in-room bicycle storage.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive across sites, with occasional bathroom-cleaning complaints rather than a dominant pattern.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength; housekeeping is provided on request.

  • Amenities: Complimentary bikes, basic breakfast, live music, a bar and a seasonal heated outdoor pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Booking sites list a refundable damage deposit and neighboring construction; confirm pool dates directly.
