The service still shines, but renovations make this a qualified luxury splurge.
The Ritz is a historic five-star luxury hotel on Piccadilly, best for travelers who enjoy formal service, ornate rooms and dressing for dinner. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise attentive staff, comfortable beds and excellent cleanliness; recent guests also admire the newly refurbished bedrooms. Green Park and Mayfair are on the doorstep, and the two-Michelin-starred restaurant remains a major draw.
The catch in October 2026 is the substantial renovation, not simply the traditional style. Recent Tripadvisor guests describe reduced public space and a temporary restaurant setting; the hotel now places afternoon tea in William Kent House rather than the Palm Court. Plenty of guests still report excellent stays, but we'd postpone a once-in-a-lifetime visit if experiencing the original interiors is essential. Men need jackets and ties for afternoon tea and restaurant lunch or dinner.
