Financial District & Union Station
office towers · grand railway station · underground walkways · after-work drinks
8.8/10
The simplest first-visit base, with a corporate rather than neighbourhood feel.
The strongest all-round base pairs exceptional transport and doorstep choice with strong hotels, but weak value and corporate evenings are the trade-offs.

Stay near Front, Bay or Wellington if you want Toronto to work with minimum effort. Union handles airport and regional trains, while the Hockey Hall of Fame, office towers and PATH passageways sit on the doorstep. Stadiums and the waterfront are walkable, making this our strongest all-round base for a short first visit.
The trade-off is atmosphere: King and Bay feel more corporate than neighbourly, and office-focused blocks lose energy after work. Choose it for painless arrivals, meetings and games; skip it if independent shops and a lively local evening scene matter more than logistics.
- Best for
- first-time visitorsbusiness trips and conventionstravelers without a carsports fans
- Skip it if
- You want independent neighbourhood life outside the door; Your trip revolves around late-night bars
- Getting around
- Line 1 at Union, King and St. Andrew, plus GO and VIA at Union; walk to the waterfront and stadiums; YYZ has direct UP Express trains, while YTZ has a shuttle to Union.
- After dark
- Expect happy-hour activity followed by quieter office blocks, with more foot traffic toward Union and the arenas around events.
